Even so, Lord Jesus, Come. . . .

Three-score-and-ten—that is the number of years on average each of us is allotted in life. It wasn’t meant to be so short. . . our lives, I mean. When Humankind was created, eternal life was promised us, if we lived in accordance with God’s Law. As the story goes, we chose NOT to abide by His Law. We deemed ourselves as more knowledgeable than our Creator. Oh what a mess humankind has been in since that moment.

In 2022 through July 8, the deaths from the War in Ukraine alone number in the tens of thousands. There have been nearly 6.4 million deaths from Covid-19 since 2020, officially. Estimates for a ‘true global death toll from the pandemic’ are nearly 15 million. That’s just the last 27 months.

If we consider the Creation account of life on Earth—6,022 years—can you estimate the number of deaths since the Garden of Eden? The toll amounts to billions upon billions of Humankind having lived and died. That is a legacy of carnage that leaves me troubled, humbled, disgusted, and so thankful for Christ’s intercession. In addition, I’m so eager for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:1-3. KJV.

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” Luke 21: 34-36 KJV.
